Life Without Eyes
You feel the sun on your face, you feel the sand on your feet, you feel the wind blowing through your hair, you hear the people laughing, you hear the sound you make when you walk, you hear your thoughts in your head, you can smell the scent of a near by bar-b-que, but you can not see anything. You are given a sense of what is around you, you are told about things, but you never get to experience the joy of actually seeing them. You never know what anyone looks like, the difference between blue and green is non-existent to you, you never get to experience the joy of seeing a new place, or even an old one. One day your eyes are opened to the world, and your life is completely changed. You can see everything that you could never imagine. It’s a miracle, you finally get to see what your dog looks like, what your friends and family look like, what the ocean looks like, but after a few weeks, everything is back to normal. You are used to your new found vision, and you act as if it is your right. You act as if you were never once blind, and to the world, your eyes close once again.
-Through My Eyes
this is brilliant. we often take for granted that which is most valuable. at the same time, when things seem to improve, we often forget the things that were good about our old condition.
one must look critically at the past in order the dicipher the reality of our lives.
